Biochar Production
Biochar is a carbon-rich material produced through the pyrolysis (thermal decomposition in the absence of oxygen) of agricultural residues such as corn stalks, rice husks, and sugarcane bagasse. This process locks carbon into a stable form, preventing it from re-entering the atmosphere as CO₂. Prime-Field is currently partnering with Beyond Carbon in Ghana to deliver a large carbon removal project involving over 24,000. Farmers, through biochar production and on-farm application. We are also piloting the use of rice husk biochar as an element of soil amendment to enhance soil fertility, improves water retention, and reduces reliance on chemical fertilizers for rice farmers in Northern Nigeria. We believe in tailoring our approach to the unique needs of each community we serve. And this includes the type of biomass available and the specific requirement of local smallholder farmers.
